Pronurturance was less likely following caesarean section (adjusted Odds Ratio (aOR) 0.07, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) 0.03–0.17). Pronurturance was more likely with a known midwife during labour and birth (aOR 1.89, 95% CI 1.35–2.65). Contributing to the low rate of pronurturance were lack of antenatal skin-to-skin information; babies being wrapped; women wearing clothing; and non-urgent caregiver interruptions including weighing the baby or facilitating the mother to shower. Key Conclusion: Health services must strategically address the institutional processes which delay and/or interrupt skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding in birth suite and operating theatre settings. Implications for Practice: Midwives and midwifery students providing continuity of carer are best placed to provide pronurturance to mothers and babies. Caregivers should educate women about pronurturance antenatally, and actively support immediate, uninterrupted mother/baby skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding after birth.]]> Wed 23 Nov 2022 11:50:22 AEDT ]]> A Method for Rapid Machine Learning Development for Data Mining with Doctor-inthe- Loop https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:50396 Wed 15 May 2024 14:43:57 AEST ]]> Perceived satisfaction with health services under National Health Insurance Scheme: clients' perspectives https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47577 Wed 13 Mar 2024 19:13:54 AEDT ]]> Caring for Pregnant Women with Rheumatic Heart Disease: A Qualitative Study of Health Service Provider Perspectives https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:49199 Wed 13 Mar 2024 08:54:30 AEDT ]]> Does more equitable governance lead to more equitable health care?: a case study based on the implementation of health reform in Aboriginal health Australia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20770 Wed 11 Apr 2018 15:14:47 AEST ]]> Assessing the suitability of fractional polynomial methods in health services research: a perspective on the categorization epidemic https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:9188 Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:30:04 AEST ]]> Service usage and vascular complications in young adults with type 1 diabetes https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20481 Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:29:37 AEST ]]> Annual incidence of snake bite in rural Bangladesh https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:9557 Wed 11 Apr 2018 13:57:21 AEST ]]> Prevalence and frequency of health service use: associations with occupational prestige and educational attainment https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:27295 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:36:01 AEST ]]> Exploring to Bangkok chaay rak chaay (gay men) accessing health services in Thailand https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:29992 Wed 11 Apr 2018 10:45:11 AEST ]]> Cleaning and decontamination of the healthcare environment https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42934 Wed 07 Sep 2022 14:48:23 AEST ]]> Using Digital Health Technologies to Manage the Psychosocial Symptoms of Menopause in the Workplace: A Narrative Literature Review https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:43973 Wed 05 Oct 2022 14:22:41 AEDT ]]> Factors Associated With Radiotherapy Utilisation In New South Wales, Australia: Results From The 45 and Up Study https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:41404 Wed 03 Aug 2022 10:42:21 AEST ]]> Preventive care for physical activity and fruit and vegetable consumption: a survey of family carer expectations of health service delivery for people with a mental health condition https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37265 Tue 15 Sep 2020 13:05:19 AEST ]]> The influence of prior opioid use on healthcare utilization and recurrence rates for non-surgical patients seeking initial care for patellofemoral pain https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:46299 n = 1746; 2.0%); however, these individuals had almost twice the mean costs of knee-related medical care ($1557 versus %802) and medical visits (8.4 versus 4.0). The use of opioids with higher risk of misuse or dependency (Schedule II or III) resulted in greater medical costs (for any reason) and recurrent episodes of knee pain compared to the use of opioids in a lower risk category (Schedule IV). Conclusions: Prior opioid utilization was associated with a greater number of recurrent episodes of knee pain and higher downstream medical costs compared with individuals without prior opioid use. For each group, an age–period– cohort model or generalised linear model with cigarette smoking exposure as a covariate was selected based on the model fit statistics and validation using observed data. The smoking-attributable fraction (SAF) was calculated for each smoking-related cancer using Australian smoking prevalence data and published relative risks. Results: Despite the decreasing mortality rates projected for the period 2015–2019 to 2040–2044 for both men and women, the overall number of smoking-related cancer deaths is estimated to increase by 28.7% for men and 35.8% for women: from 138 707 (77 839 men and 60 868 women) in 2015–2019 to 182 819 (100 153 men and 82 666 women) in 2040–2044. Over the period 2020–2044, there will be 254 583 cancer deaths (173 943 men and 80 640 women) directly attributable to smoking, with lung, larynx, oesophagus and oral (comprising lip, oral cavity and pharynx) cancers having the largest SAFs.
